FIDES Rio 2023: Find out the first confirmed panelists for this event, which will take place from September 24 to 26, 2023

 

The National Confederation of Insurers (CNseg), the organization responsible for organizing the 38th edition of FIDES, the biggest insurance conference in Latin America, which will take place from September 24 to 26 of this year at the Windsor Convention Center and Hotel in Rio de Janeiro, has just announced six confirmed speakers for the meeting, which will bring together insurance organizations from across the Americas and Iberian Peninsula.

“FIDES occurs every two years, but because of COVID-19, the last edition, due in 2021, was cancelled. This event is a unique opportunity to network with prominent executives and also find out more about trends and prospects for the insurance market in the medium and long term,” explains Dyogo Oliveira, the president of CNseg.

In addition to keynote speeches by Luis Alberto Moreno, a former president of the Inter-American Development Bank, and Paul Krugman, 2008 Nobel Prize winner, who have confirmed their presence at the conference, there will be the following panelists.

 

Panel Discussion: Digital Transformation

Roberto Santos, president, Porto Seguro

He has an undergraduate degree in business administration from Fluminense Federal University in Rio de Janeiro and he has been at the Porto insurance group for 22 years. As well as serving as chairman of CNseg, he has also chaired the Association of Insurers of Rio de Janeiro and Espírito Santo and he is a former professor at Brazil’s National Insurance School.

 

Panel Discussion: Insurance Global Trends

Daniel Castilho, Vice president, underwriting, IRB (Re)

For four decades, he has been dedicated to the reinsurance sector, working in technical areas related to claims and underwriting. Now vice president of IRB, Daniel Castillo has held national and regional leadership positions in several parts of the world. He has an undergraduate degree in civil engineering from Rio Grande do Sul Catholic University and an MBA from Queen’s University, Canada.

 

Panel Discussion: ESG

Barbara Buchner, global managing director, Climate Policy Initiative

She is the global managing director of the Climate Policy Initiative. Ranked among the 20 most influential women when it comes to climate change and one of the 100 most influential people on climate policy, she advises leaders on investing in climate, energy and land use across the world.

Kaspar Mueller, president for reinsurance in Latin America, Swiss Re

He has more than 20 years of market experience and he is the president for reinsurance in Latin America at Swiss Re. He began his career as a financial analyst for alternative investments at the same company. He later worked for a management consultancy, assisting insurance and banking clients. He has a master’s in finance from the University of Zurich.

 

Panel Discussion: Cybersecurity

Gil Arazi, founder and managing partner, insurtech FinTLV Venture Capital

He is the founder and managing partner of FinTLV Venture Capital, an insurance tech venture capital firm that is a global leader in advanced stage investments in this area, having invested in startups such as Hippo, Next Insurance, Unqork, Corvus and wefox. He has 20 years of experience as a senior executive and board member at Israel’s biggest insurers and he is a seasoned entrepreneur in the insurance tech startup ecosystem, as well as being a certified public accountant in Israel.

Hank Watkins, regional director and president for Americas, Lloyd’s

He is responsible for implementing Lloyd’s strategy in the United States, Canada, Latin America and the Caribbean. He has an undergraduate degree from the University of California, Berkeley. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of the School of Risk Management at St. John’s University and a board member of the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation and Insurance Federation of New York.
