Job Summary: You will help large companies across Latin America, the Caribbean and Spain / Portugal to protect their assets and their business income, by providing (Re)Insurance protection against unforeseen damage of their assets due to risks like fire, natural perils, machinery breakdown, etc. As a Junior Property Lines underwriter, you will receive on-the-job training and development, working closely with the Senior Underwriter, to perform pre-underwriting and underwriting of Energy and Commercial Property risks per defined guidelines, helping to develop and maintain a profitable book.
Key Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Reviews and evaluates Property submissions, including new business and renewals, to identify risks/exposure and determine risk acceptability, based on defined guidelines. Ensure that selected risks fall within our underwriting appetite.
- Work closely with the Senior underwriter and other Junior underwriters to perform pre-underwriting and underwriting activities including submission log, Cat and Non-Cat modeling and pricing.
- Once underwriting authority is given, document underwriting analysis and rationale with key underwriting aspects; determine line size and prepare/deliver quote within specific authority limits or approval from individuals with required level of authority.
- Perform required pre-and post-underwriting activities to ensure that the underwriting and account administration process follows AXIS’ internal procedures and guidelines.
- Document all underwriting files electronically to ensure the company complies at all times with internal and external or regulatory requirements.
- Develop strong relationships with Brokers and clients throughout Latin America, including meetings, travel, site visits, etc.
- Bachelor’s degree. (Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a related field is a plus but not a requisite).
- Full written and oral fluency and proficiency in Spanish and English (a must).
- 0-3 years of work experience in any field. Relevant work experience in commercial insurance is a plus but not required.
- Strong attention to detail

Required Skills and Education
