Job description
Responsible for the Risk & Compliance function within BMS Latin America, working with the business to identify and assess risk in accordance with policies, procedures, systems and controls so as to ensure the Latin American entity meets its obligations for regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
- Identify & manage potential E&Os
- Oversee and place local E&O coverage where required
- Maintain licences & manage licence application process
- Review, sign off and file business agreements with third parties
- Train employees relating to processes, procedures & mandatory standards
- Prepare and update training material
- Implement & manage the control framemwork to ensure quality of documentation and files
- Arrange for CEO compliance declaration to be sent on a quarterly basis
- Produce & maintain business unit process and procedures
- Arrange for any CEO attestations to be sent to UK compliance
- Review emerging legislation and regulatory changes in the relevant jurisdictions
- Work with UK compliance & CEO of Latin America to agree 3-4 thematic reviews per year
- Regular assessments of risk to the business, updating KRIs & Control Assessments
- Identify and manage conflicts of interest
- Handle client DD
- Identify new markets/stamps, day to day requests and handling of market DD
- Review & manage third party business case with support documentation
- Review & sign off CN/DN before sending to client
Functional & Behavioural Competencies required:
- Minimum of 5 years working in a compliance role with risk management experience
- Comprehensive (re)insurance knowledge
- Sound understanding of regulation and legislation requirements
- Sound understanding of risk principles and philosophy
- Excellent communication skills
- Diligent with attention to detail
- Strong business acumen & technical credibility
- Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships
